In 1982 three famous Belgian windsurfers took up the idea of producing custom windsurfing boards to sell to their friends on the beach. As windsurfing was booming all over Europe, their business went more and more professional. After visits to Hawaiï, California, and more world wide surfing destinations they started a company that imported windsurfing equipment. Soon their products were sold in all surfshops over the country and thanks to their involvement and dedication in the sport itself D'Light became a symbol for all kinds of watermen.
In '86, when the surfing industry really went public, D'Light became distributor of O'Neill and took an enormous growth in selling to over 350 sportshops in Belgium. Soon other sportbrands joined D'Light. For the 65 young people today working in the company, working means also living the lifestyle of the products they stand for.
From "D'Light is the name, windsurfing is the game", the company grew to become one of Belgium's major surfcompanies. It is still distributing surfboards from a home base in Tenerife (Canary Islands) and both the wetsuit and sportswear lines from the mentioned world class brands to a wide range of shops. Authenticity, roots and lifestyle are the key words to this success story that started in a dusty garage at the beach promenade.
Now D'Light has following brands: O'Neill (O'Neill Mainline, Boardbabes, Footwear, Accessories, Wetsuits, ...) & Dakine.
